Troubleshooting Tips

If you’re struggling to get your nails back to balance, this protocol is for you.
This restoration guide is all about taking back control of your nails, and reversing the damage.
Maybe you’ve been working a job that requires constant hand washing, or someone whose hands need to be submerged in water, or someone who is on a healing journey from medical treatment. Or you may have had so many salon treatments that the nail bed has been compromised.

Your nails are likely peeling, splitting or lifting and it’s gotten out of hand. You just want it to stop.

Hands are such a sensitive part of our identities— they are exposed to full view, and in an age where nail polish signifies social acceptance, having bare, damaged nails can be the source of so much shame.
This program is designed to create a stronger relationship with your hands. We want them to be a source of pride, not of shame.
Like any habit-changing exercise, it will take up to 21 days to get these habits to stick. Give yourself grace… and when you miss a step, gently guide yourself back.

Daily habits make the world of difference in nail care.
The Power of Habit Stacking
We’ve found that pairing your nail care with other “set” routines like skincare or tooth brushing really helps to get the consistency you need. These will be your daily anchors. Here are some other points in the day you can sneak in nail care:
- During your work day, when waiting to get on a video call
- In your car, waiting on a school pickup line or filling your gas tank
- At night, watching your favorite show or movie
- With a gratitude practice or meditation
Tools you’ll need
- **Dry Gloss Manicure kit:** Until your nails are healed, you’ll use only the cuticle oil pen and wooden pushers in the kit.
- **Bare Hands Restorative Nail Oil:** This is our most therapeutic formula and it’s the core ally to support your nails and skin during this 14-day reset.
- Rubber or silicone gloves: Water is the enemy of healing, so covering your hands when doing housework is key. Your instincts reject wearing them— (Why would they want to cut off your sense of touch?!) Override it with your smarter brain and get those gloves on!!
- Silicone finger protectors: For creating a barrier between your nails and water or your nails/cuticles from damage. See “When to use the barrier method” for details.
Things to keep in mind
- Remove any polish and keep it off for the duration of this program. If you use acetone, wash your hands immediately after. (Yes… nail strengtheners are considered polish!)
- Buffing is only for nails that are structurally sound. Don’t us the polisher if you have peeling or splitting.
- Keep all tools to hand where and when you’re likely to need them. We want them to be a reflexive part of your daily habits. They are your helpers!
